Good Morning! Do you have one minute to read and one hour to do? If so, you can improve your small business’ marketing in a big way. Each week, we will provide new ideas.
THIS WEEK’S TOPIC: HASHTAGS
Get your business in front of new eyeballs and increase your followers. Grab your beverage, and let’s get started!
4 EASY STEPS
STEP 1
Make a list of every hashtag you can think of. Check out your platform and your competitor’s for inspiration, and brainstorm a big list.
STEP 2
Google your hashtag ideas to see if they are, in fact, current hashtags in use. (Be sure to note when there are similar hashtags, like #smallbizowner vs. #smallbizowners. Usually one will be a better choice than the other. Make sure you are using the best one.)
STEP 3
Check the popularity of your hashtags by typing them into Instagram. Aim for hashtags between 15,000 and 100,000 posts. (If there are too many associated posts, it will be too hard to get noticed. Too few, and there is no point in using it.)
STEP 4
Narrow down your list to 8 hashtags for Instagram and 4 choices for other platforms. If you are lucky enough to have found more than 8 great hashtags, trade them out from time to time, depending on the context.
See if better hashtags don’t get you more followers, fast!
