THIS WEEK’S TOPIC: UPDATE YOUR MISSION STATEMENT
These days mission statements are more important than ever. They are a tangible way to show your company’s authenticity. There are concrete reasons why you started this business and that continue to motivate you daily. Make sure they are written in the form of a mission statement, so your customers and even your team can see them.
SIX EASY STEPS
Step One: Read over current mission statement or create your first one. 3-4 sentences should do it.
Step Two: Do you get a sense of passion and purpose?
Step Three: Does your company sound original or one-of-a-kind?
Step Four: Do you use vivid, active words and not very much “corporate speak”?
Step Five: Have a co-worker or friend read over the statement and provide feedback.
Step Six: Give your mission statement to your staff so that everyone knows and can share with others. Find a place to put this on your website. Try the About Us section. Place it in a visible spot in your office.
Sit back and wait for the day the first person repeats your mission statement back to you! Then you know you have a well written, memorable statement.
